The two large groups I am in are to do with games I play.....I have changed my privacy settings so that only friends of friends can send me friend requests as I was getting fed up with them and don't want them

I think the people that are getting through and not going to other have the same mutual friend as myself ( only accepted the one)

Just checked one that got through and we do not share a mutaul friend.....so must be random

The "OTHER" mail folder on Face Book is a means of communicating with people who are not on your "Friends" list.

Trouble is a lot of people are not aware that the "OTHER" mail folder exists so if the recipient of your mail ain't clued up you'll never get an answer. To add to the problem FB do not indicate you have mails in your "Other" box until you go to your normal mail box on FB and even then the notification that you have "Other" mail is quite faint - tis a crap system.

Jax - messages from people in your Groups - I'm a tad puzzled by wot you've said as only messages I've had from people in Groups I belong to but who NOT on my Friends list always go to "Other"

Ooo yes - to be honest, I'd never even noticed the message box! Ignorant, that's me ;-)

Click on your message box ....top left it says Indox Other...if you have any numbers to the right of Other you have messages from someone you are not friends with...if you click on it the messages will come up

I have noticed that some large groups I am in most messages come through normally....but a few go to this other folder

On your FB home page in menu down left, click on messages .
You should then see at top left ... Inbox (?) Other (?)
Question marks refer to how many you have got pending.

People talk about the 'other' folder........errr, where's that ? :-S

Quite often if you are not friends with the person any message will go to their other folder which not everyone knows about or checks.....if using a tablet or phone then you dont get that option so may never see that message

If you look at your post, you'll see a pencil in the top right corner. Click on that ;-)

Left click on the persons Avatar , this will take you to their Timeline page and far right from their name you will See Message ...
Left click on that and a message box will open up for you.

Click on message and you can send a pm even if you aren't friends, unless the person's privacy settings don't allow it.

Send a friend request first.. then you will be able to send a pm... :-)
