Need to get some new stair carpet

When we replaced our stair carpet the carpet fitter recommended we kept some of the leftover pieces in case some of the treads needed to be replaced. He said that would save us having to replace all of the stair carpet if only a couple of treads had got worn.

Our cat Mirabelle when she was going through her last days had accidents on the lower landing of the stairs .

She had peed on the landing and pooped so we bought an indoor loo and put in there cos that would have her "scent"
We lost her in July and that lower landing is still bare boards. Grandson is up next week to paint the hall and stairs so we can re carpet

I really fancy striped carpet BUT am wondering about its durability. Dont want it to matt up on the treads so the stripe is lost

Has anyone had striped carpet laid and how does it wear??
