My friends son went out with a group of friends in Birmingham City Centre on Monday evening. After an evening of drinking he flagged a taxi to get home. However, it was not a genuine taxi and he was driven a few miles out of the city and dragged into an alley where he was beaten up and his wallet taken.

Fortunately he is in one piece and recovering, but PLEASE make others aware- PHONE AND BOOK your taxi- do not flag one down in the street.

Sometimes flagging a taxi may seem the easiest option, especially after a few drinks when you're standing in the cold after the club/ pub shuts- but PLEASE STAY SAFE, phone for a taxi, and enjoy the new year.

I know Ann, it's frightening and it has really shook us all up. We're just trying to tell as many people as possible how important it is to phone and book.

We're bringing in the New Year with a few friends at our house this year, so no going out for us. I hope you have a lovely evening Ann- Happy new year x
