Our grandson is coming today and tomorrow to paint our hall and stairs

He is a long distance lorry driver and spends a lot of time away from his family driving on the continent . He has time off this week and is driving 30 plus miles each way to ours to do the painting for us .

We have been told in no uncertain terms NOT to do any preparation other than to get the paint in ! he is even going to take up the carpet so the woodwork can be properly painted .

We need new anyway as still got the lower landing bare boards cos we had to take up that carpet as the cat peed on it several times as she got more poorly . She died in july so am really looking forward to getting new carpet now

I tried to get local quotes to do the painting but no one wanted to know

He is a star for sure, Shirley. Hope it all gets done without too much upheaval and you enjoy choosing new carpet.

Take care, and put buckets of water out to help the smell of paint go quickly.

Well its all done and looks lovely Grandson and his dad (our daughter's ex) came up today and spent 8 hours here getting it all finished Everywhere has had two coats done . We didnt need the doors done thank goodness as they pre finished when they were installed and only needed the top coat on which doesn't need redoing.

They worked very hard and have done a great job

So its new carpet time now and want to get that done asap as hubby has been persuaded to look at getting a stairlift put in. We need to strike quickly before he backs off again .

Got AgeUK associated company coming to give a quote on Thursday next

Oh how lovely, it will be such a help to have the stair lift. New carpet will set off the new paintwork nicely. Enjoy it all.
