I guess by the time you write it down and transfer to your Tree it is more likely to sink into the brain :-) thx

GR have said they are working on the tree software which will allow members to have more than one tree on their account.

When and if that happens then they might provide some of the facilities you need.

No you can't. You can only export and import a whole tree.

If you have a family history program on your PC then you can use that to split, edit and merge gedcoms.

When you import the resultant gedcom into GR it will replace your existing tree.

Thanks Guys:) I do have acces to their Trees and they are extended family. Wondering if one can partially export Gedcom file and import to your file. Anybody tried this? :-)

And many even after contact will not give you access to their tree, but happily share any info on the person you share.r

Sadly this is due to 'scrumpers'. these are people who gain access to your tree and then promptly add ALL of your tree to theirs.

But do not give up. Once contact has been made you will find we are a polite and generous bunch.

1. In order to access yr rellie's tree you first have to send a message asking for access to their tree. Do NOT use the template message but personalise it giving some details of why you wish to share. Then wait.
2. Assuming you get a positive response ( 1 day to a month ) you will then need to access the rellie's tree and manually update yr own with the info. Do NOT assume OP tree is all correct but cross check each entry with at least 2 pieces of data per person.
3. It is not possible to automatically input data to GRU in the same way as, say, with Ancestry.
4. A high proportion of trees are inactive and you will never get a response of any kind. However all is not lost.
Using the search trees facility all people in a tree will show up even even the tree is marked as not to show living relatives. With a little ingenuity you can use this to work out chunks of another tree whether you have formal access or not. Hint: use the member name.

good luck

If you find a relative on Genesreunited and they have information you don't, how does one go about transferring the information to your Tree? the first step would be to ask if it is OK, after that WHAT? :-) :-) is it a manual job?
thx
