Choccy, perhaps William and Mary met in SA and she came to England in July 1914 with the intention of marrying - her baby's father?

There is another passenger list dated 1920 which had William, Mary and Master A (age 7) Gatrill with South Africa as ‘Country of Intended Future Permanent Residence’.
It looks like S.A. records are needed.

Strange that she arrived in July 1914 and married in the same year.

A copy of the Rochford marriage certificate would be my next move to see who she was.

Just for ref I did have a look for a child born with mother's maiden name Orsmond, having looked for a previous marriage (or no marriage) for Mary, but with no luck. I could not see a birth for Mary Orsmond, so wonder if she was not born in England or Wales, and hence her child wasn't either? Interestingly perhaps the name Orsmond when googled brings up a lot of SA references, maybe Mary Orsmond was born South Africa?

Had Mary Orsmond been married before?

Thank you all for your help it would appear Florence (plum) Gatrill junior was still
living at home at 37 years of age probably didn't marry and highly unlikely any
children.Not having much luck with Master A Gatrill born 1913 father William john
Gatrill,Mother Mary Gatrill(nee)Orsmond this is William John Gatrills second wife
only other record I have is they left the country bound for South Africa 1920 all free
B M D records checked and census info of around that date reveal no trace of my
Great Grand father/wife and sibling!
