Cold call insurance selling. :-|

Just received a phone call about a Fridge Freeze I purchased on line via Argos site 2 days ago.
Hello Mr Budgie Rustler....
We`re just making this call about the Electrical item you purchased from us.
They confirmed the due date and reminded me the appliance came with a 1yr warranty guarantee etc....
Then cometh the "soft sell", but I jumped in first and said you`re not trying to sell me extra insurance cover are You.
Because I am quite aware of all the "extras". The documents for those such things come bundled together with the appliance literature.
(a bit of a splutter )... and he said well we just thought we could save you the trouble and get it sorted out for you now, over the phone.
I politely declined .... unusual for me as I detest this type of insurance selling, even when its done at a sales counters in shops when I am purchasing goods.
(More so when they try to make out its a "must have" thing.

Then less than 10 minutes later I had another call telling me, that "records show you have worked in a noisy environment"... If this is so press button 5 .... " %$£*+^*S"... and I put the phone down.

Rant over...

I live in the North East and yesterday I received a phone call from a foreign lady who said "I am calling from Tyne & Wear County Council".

Tyne & Wear County Council was scrapped over 20 years ago and when I told her this she put the phone down. I wish now that I had teased her to find out what scam she was involved in.

Usually the case Robert after such calls.
You ponder for a while, then think I should have said, such and such or told them to go away, ever so politely (of course).. he,he, ;-)
