Roseberry Topping, I climbed up there once, long before my heart started giving me trouble. What a view. Bob

Oh, I didn't realize that it was so far away from Middlesbrough. I assumed that it was on Eston Hills or maybe Roseberry Topping. And it seems that it was put up many years after I left the area.

The Angel of the North is in Gateshead 38 miles north of Middlesbrough. it went up in 1998

Kay????

Kay???? Report 15 Jan 2015 21:18

Its just on the outskirts of Gatehead,,,,its become an iconic landmark since 1998,,,,,,,its a magnificent sight.....red rusted and enormous when you get up close and even bigger when you are underneath it......

The same man Antony Gormley also did the statues in the sea,

I was born in Middlesbrough more years ago than I care to state. I don't remember ever seeing the Angel of the North. Must have been put up since I left in 1952?

Can I presume from your name and the picture of the Angel of the North that you are a Middlesbrough lass? We have friends that live in Marton. Also, after about 40 years, I found an old army friend from Sunderland, and it turned out that his sister also lives in Marton. I once won two tickets for a guided tour of the Riverside Stadium. I put them back in the raffle. I do go on, don't I? Bob
