I love cardamon and like to chew the seeds which can leave very attractive black bits all over the teeth.

'One man's meat is.........' Lol!!

I love coriander and caraway seeds and like all spices and herbs except I can't stand Tarragon.

My pet hate is coriander....either fresh or powdered.
It invariably overpowers the taste of whatever it´s been added to & have lost count of the times I have bought fresh coriander in mistake for parsley.
Blame old age & short sightedness

I remember post war, the local baker delivering around the streets in custom house E16,( he had a three wheeler, van but with motorbike type front forks.......)
freshly baked bread, rolls, you name it he had it........
what I loved, at age about ten was to get the hot fresh loaf ........the one with caraway seeds and was scarred across the top......pulling off the crusty bits,

leaving a semi scalped loaf......

I remember swigging gripe water from the bottle my mother kept in for the baby.

We were all at it, think of the bacteria in said bottle? I remember the bottle well, that particular shape with the white paper label.

I love the stuff!

caraway seeds I hate - I recall when I was a child I had a slice at my grandmother's - it was ghastly and I've never forgotten the taste - don't much care for nutmeg either

There have always been some spices that I liked and some I didn't like much.

I have always avoided chilli because I really don't like it at all even though I don't mind a bit of strong English mustard which has quite different flavours accompanying the heat.

Ginger was always another I was not ever so keen on although I will eat a bit of gingerbread and I like it a bit more now than ever I did.

The others, like nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon, I didn't mind and would use lavishly in bread pudding. Cinnamon was not, to my taste, as pleasant as the others, a bit soapy.

Recently, however, and I really do not know why, I truly loathe cinnamon. I can smell it in things and hate the taste. Don't know why but I hope I lose this loathing.
