How many pills a day does he need?
If it's only a day trip, can't you dose him up before you go?
Get him used to sleeping on an unwashed piece of your clothing for comfort and dependency (it'll smell of you), and disappear for longer periods before you go.
Leave the radio on the usual station, lights on, etc , plenty of his favourite food - he'll sleep through the whole outing :-D

Before I went away last weekend, I'd left a fleece on a dining chair.
Betty cat has claimed this as hers, and she's still on it!! :-|

Mister cat has now claimed her paper bag on the floor. My house isn't really untidy - it's just cat beds strewn over the place!!

George doesn't like change - he's still on my bed. Unfortunately he has taken to sleeping 'my' side :-| :-| :-|

If it is only a day out, would he not sleep all day, Sharron?

He would have his water, food and warmth? I don't know how cats are when very elderly, ours had died before old age.

I wouldn't consider leaving him overnight, but do you really think that he would be totally lost if you had an outing? I always think that cats are different to dogs in this respect, but of course you know yours well.

I'm very lucky.
My are only 8, and I have a wonderful neighbour who not only feeds them, but spends over an hour sitting with them (more than I do!!)
She loves feeding them because they are cuddly.
I went away for 4 days last weekend. They won't leave me alone now :-(
If I go on a 'proper' holiday, I never go for more than a week.

Mind you, whenever I go away, I leave the landing light on, the radio on Radio 4, and a lamp comes on in the living room from dusk until 11:30 pm.

I would be the same Sharron . They love us so much and want us around so it's such a short time to indulge them especially as they get old

I miss our girl so much ,we lost her in July but when she was here she was our first priority . When we did go on some family outings our grandaughter came in daily to feed her BUT she was missing us I am sure cos she hardly ate even though she knew our grandaughter.

It was a lovely warm feeling when we came back and she was so pleased to see us ,but then she showed her displeasure the next day by giving us the cold shoulder !

The cat is old, I would leave him all day when he was younger.

There will come a time when I have a younger cat once and then I can go out again.

I have his successor lined up too.

There is a stray being fed daily, just like he was.

There isn't anybody really.

They are not 'his' people and it would disturb him and he does need an awful lot of cuddle.

I think I would be staying at home as well if that was my cat.

I always thought I would be able to go where I wanted when I chose after Fred died which just shows how wrong you can be.

I blithely put my name down for a coach outing to a brewery next month before I remembered that there will be nobody to look after the cat if we all go.

Yes, it is only a cat but he is very clingy and dependant, not to mention old and deaf and in need of daily medication.

They are going but I will stay at home.

I wouldn't enjoy it if I was worried all day. There will be other days out. There had better be!
