Dear All

Hello

On this day in 1904, Archibald Alexander Leach was born in Bristol.

Later Mr Leach changed his name to Cary Grant. The rest is history.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cary Grant was named the second Greatest Male Star of All Time
(after Humphrey Bogart) by the American Film Institute.

Known for comedic and dramatic roles; his best-known films include
Bringing Up Baby (1938), The Philadelphia Story (1940),
His Girl Friday (1940), Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), Notorious (1946),
An Affair to Remember (1957), North by Northwest (1959), and Charade (1963).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He was nominated twice for an Academy Award for his role in
"None but the lonely heart", an early film of his and then "Penny Serenade",
acting with Irene Dunne.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr Grant was continually passed over for film industry and critics awards.

However, in 1970, he was presented an Honorary Oscar at the 42nd Academy Awards by Frank Sinatra:

"for his unique mastery of the art of screen acting
with the respect and affection of his colleagues"

Take gentle care all
Best wishes

Hi Elizabeth :-) :-)

I loved Cary Grant!
There are so many films I enjoyed him in - comedy, romance, suspense!

One of my favourite films that comes to mind was The Philadelphia Story with Katharine Hepburn.
I think it was a much better film than it's musical remake- High Society, with Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby.

I read a story about a journalist doing a "piece" on Cary Grant, and not knowing his age, sent a telegram to his agent. "How old Cary Grant?" Came the reply, "Old Cary Grant fine, how you?" Priceless. Bob

when he was little he used to sneak out the house to play football with the kids in the street. One of which was my dad.
Archys mum used to call him in as she didn't like him doing that :-0 :-0 :-D
