‘Some religions have little to say about morality. The Leaders/Priests are too busy selling charms, mumbling incantations & performing magic rites than inculcating ethical precepts‘.

(Paraphrased from ‘The Story of Civilisation’ by Will Durant.)

It will no doubt be interesting to discover why GR saw fit to delete my post stating (perfectly correctly) that Jesus could not possibly have been a Christian.

It's a real shame that Saints never live long enough to witness & enjoy their Sainthood.

The expression 'living saint' appears presumptuous or an oxymoron.

Graham, I suppose it's like Santa Claus.
He was originally Nicholas.
He knew himself as Nicholas.
He didn't wear red, but did on one occasion give a gift to a child or two.
But he was still Nicholas.
Then he died and was made a saint.

Sometime in the depths of time, after his death he became Santa Claus, and in later times he wore red :-D

So, Nicholas was always just Nicholas to Nicholas - and to everyone who knew him.
After his death he was revered, re-named St Nicholas, then later, given the nickname Santa Claus and corporate clothing (beard and hat included) :-D :-D

I just looked up Jesus on Twitter. I like this tweet he made: "They say abstinence is 100% effective for birth control. Tell that to my mom" :-D

It doesn't look like he follows himself though. ;-)

I think religion is a bit like

who has the best imaginary friends :-D :-D

but each to their own :-D :-D

Since Jews don't believe in Jesus and Jesus believed in his own existence; wouldn't that make Jesus a christian? :-S

Some prefer the belt and braces approach.

Power & money – the aphrodisiacs that never let you down. Prayer is just a safety net.

Only the deluded disagree & blame today’s poverty on the poor.

Maybe whoever reported me would also like to report JoyBoroAngel for making such a sacrilegious remark.

I actually thought JoyBoroAngel's remark was incredibly funny.

Having thought about it, and not being a theologian (and pretty cr&p at Christianity), I agree, Errol.
Was a bit of a preacher man/zealot, though :-D

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 22 Jan 2015 18:47

I asked how on earth (or heaven) could Jesus be a Christian.

The word "Christian" means follower of Christ.

He did not follow himself. He was a Jew, as any theologian would agree.

Fully agree, Joy.
As the Moslem mayor of Rotterdam said on TV after Charlie Hebdo:

Mayor Aboutaleb told Dutch news programme Nieuwsuur (News Hour): "It is incomprehensible that you can turn against freedom.

"But if you do not like freedom, in Heaven’s name pack your bag and leave.”
He added: “There may be a place in the world where you can be yourself... be honest with yourself and do not go and kill innocent journalists.

“And if you do not like it here because humorists you do not like make a newspaper, may I then say you can f*** off.”

“This is stupid, this so incomprehensible... vanish from the Netherlands if you cannot find your place here.”
