Well, I finished sanding the floor and the front room was quite presentable for a short while.

Now we are having solar panels fitted with the attendant storage heaters and water heating contraption in the corner of the front bedroom as well as having a new kitchen installed.

All these things need space so, as we sat in a little clearing in the front room today, we reflected upon the way reality programmes who like to highlight benefit scroungers, which, of course, we are, make sure to include lingering shots of any piles of junk they can spot.

What a rich source of material we could provide for them. I was on the sofa with the cat because there really was not much I could be doing, with a blanket round me because the back door needs to be open quite a lot. OH was in the armchair that is squeezed up against the sofa because there is no room anywhere else for him to be and the cat's food and dirt box in the front room with us, as is the rubbish bin.There are two freezers and a tumble dryer as well.

Oh the conclusions that could be drawn from the scene. Poor old souls can only afford to live in one room, or have they filled the house so full of junk( that was my mother's speciality, five transit loads) that they have no other room?
