The town we live in is built around a golf course... you can be a "social" member of the club, without playing golf....... or lawn bowls.

We're usually there every Friday evening.

We know some men (retired) who play every day! :-(

At least he is only away during the day!

My OH is into sailing, and goes away for days, or sometimes weeks, at a time. He works out his sailing programme during the autumn, then sends it to all the friends who might be interested in joining him and waits for "bookings".

So far he has 2 weeks on a Greek flotilla with friends who need an experienced person with them, 3 weeks in Turkey helping another couple on their yacht, and several weeks around the Western Isles in his own boat!!

In the winter there is a thing called Maintenance! :-) :-) :-)

But, as DetEcTive said, as long as he is fit enough, it gives him an outside interest.

There’s a point where a Hobby becomes an Obsession. It sounds as if he’s crossed it!

On the other hand, he has a social life and an interest outside of the home :-D

no way! This is my holiday too!

See above....... he plays every Wednesday & Saturday, every 4th Friday, and lots of "special days.

We just had a long weekend, and he played Saturday, Sunday AND Monday. He played today and is playing this Friday AND Saturday!

Next time he whinges about the $$ I spend on researching lang deid yins I'll pick up his fixtures book :-D and throw it at him.

Is there a Course close to where you're staying? Couldn't he get 'invited' to play there?

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 28 Jan 2015 09:37

he was a maniac before he started playing golf. Now he's worse.

His name is all over the boards at the club, and on several trophies in the display cabinet.

He used to tell me all about his game, until I got glassy-eyed....... now we have an understanding........ he doesn't tell me too much about the game (played well or not, got a hole in one, whatever)........ and I don't tell him much about dead rellies on my tree.

:-D

That's great!

DH has decided he wants to play golf next Saturday, and leave the club straight afterwards. It should only take about an hour to get to the Gold Coast. Fine with me. BUT he said he'd like to be back for Wednesday golf!!!

grrrrrrrrrrr :-(

I might send him home, stay there by myself, and get him to pick me up on Friday.

Luckily the payment didn't actually go through. The owner checked with paypal yesterday but now he has sent an invoice and we have paid the correct lesser amount last evening. Phew!!!

We're going to the Gold Coast in Qld, where half of Oz go on holiday :-D

We've waited until the school summer holidays are over, so hopefully it won't be too crowded.

Gold Coast? That's where the next Commonwealth Games will be held.

This is part of their bid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmRdarYkgXA

DH plays golf every Saturday & Wednesday & every 4th Friday..... plus many "special" days. It won't hurt him to miss two games of bl**dy golf!!!!!!!!

I've already started the shopping list :-D :-D

I made a massive booboo at the weekend. I booked our trip to Derbyshire for June and paid 50% as deposit. Then I went to book our time away next Sunday as o.h. likes to have time away for his birthday which is on the Thursday . We have stayed at the house before so know the owner and he struggled to explain how to book as it was not the usual Saturday to Saturday. I had to pay through paypal and suddenly realised the total was more than twice what it should have been due to the various boxes I'd had to tick.....and I had pressed the button. I daren't tell o.h. till I managed to contact the owner last evening and he is now trying to sort out the best way to refund the £600+ that I overpaid! I rang o.h. at work to tell him so he had time to calm down lol He hates paying for things online so is wary at the best of times.

The place we are going to is about 25 miles from here too , by the coast and a favourite place of ours even if the weather is cold, the house we rent is cosy and within walking distance of pubs that do good food. O.h 's sister, b.i.l and father sre planning to come down one evening to take us out to dinner.

Hope your holiday goes well Scozz

Why not go Friday as planned? As it's only 25km away, he can still go to his golfing game on Saturday! You could take a good book and have some 'me' time away from your usual surroundings :-D

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 26 Jan 2015 22:43

lol Sylvia

We're only going about 25km away.

We live in a beautiful place (where we live is on my avatar), but there's not much in the way of shopping, restaurants etc. We don't go far from home on holidays, and save the longer trips for when we visit rellies in other states of Oz.

We'll go out for meals, do some shopping, see a couple of movies... and will probably get fed up mid-week (especially if it's raining) and come home.

:-D

Sylvia Report 26 Jan 2015 22:37

LadyScozz Report 26 Jan 2015 22:30

:-(

We had planned to go away for a few days (not far).....

I said to DH last night....... when are we going? He didn't know either.

So....... half an hour ago I 'phoned the company that we booked with.....

And........ we're booked in for next Friday, 6th February.

Arrrrrrrrrgh :-S

DH is probably playing golf on Saturday, so I guess we will be leaving here on Sunday.

I blame all the medication I'm taking :-D It CANNOT be me getting old and losing memory cells.

I asked them to send an email, which has arrived, and I've printed it..... now I must put it somewhere "safe"

:-D
