Don´t have any problem dropping off to sleep during the day Brenda, but nighttime is a different matter. Don´t seem to be able to manage more than 3 hours at a stretch, then, come 5.30 am, that´s it for the night.
Don´t know about a link with blocked sinuses although it would seem logical. I do know that there is a link with tinnitus which my brother has had for years. I don´t have that, & he doesn´t have the vertigo & vomiting. Only connection I can see is that we both have circulation problems, as did our father & all of our paternal ancestors (family history comes in useful at times) so maybe it´s connected with restricted blood flow.....or maybe not. Who knows?
I tried googling, but the info is not very clear. Think it´s a matter of "live with it".
Maggie.
Hope you are feeling better. I can never understand why a common cold often makes you feel worse than a serious illness, & certainly more depressed.
One advantage of living in Spain is a plentiful supply of cheap lemons, so it´s hot toddies every 4 hours.

Hi wisechild,
I'm not as bad since I've got older...10 yrs older than you!.....,but do suffer with sinus and catarrh and I think that sometimes it is when the sinuses get blocked that it affects the sinus sac near the ear...this is not a medical diagnosis, but just me observing that sometimes when I lie on my side in bed I get a swishing sound in my ear,so I try to use a nasal spray that seems to relieve the pressure.
Does it affect your eyes as well?
I have always found that a lot of bright colors, say in a supermarket.or highly patterned stretches of carpet ,say,in a store or airport affect me.
Anyway, hope your cold is now improving....
Brenda xx
Not used medication as such for ages, but maybe the seasickness pills help...they certainly make you sleepy!!

Hi Brenda.
I´m told that it´s not cureable but can be controlled & several rellies have recommended seasickness tablets.
I have some medication from the GP which I have to take 3 times a day & which appeared to be helping until I got this cold.
Like you, at times I get very "off balance" especially if I move my head quickly & walking is difficult because my legs are wobbly.
I feel like an old lady. Having said that, my birth certificate says I am nearly 70, while in my mind I´m noy much over 50. Dream on. :-S :-S :-S :-S
Can´t tell you what the medication is because it´s in Spanish.

I've got a streamer as well, Wisechild.
I had a week of blocked nose, runny nose and occasional sneezing, but didn't feel ill.

Finally felt ill (tired) last Sunday. It reached it's peak on Friday, so medicated myself with whisky toddies :-D

Feel a bit better today, but have no enthusiasm or energy to do anything, and my nose is blocked :-(

I was diagnosed with Menieres disease when I was in my 30's and had a dreadful time of not being able to even reach up to a cupboard to get a cup....to walk outside and cross a rd was impossible.
I never knew anyone else with it,but wondered if it was anything to do with sinuses as well as the balance.
I'm not so bad now,but still get occasional spells of dizziness......I'm interested to know what treatment they give you these days?seem to remember Stemetil...,and another I can't think of.
I do sympathise with you and hope you're soon feeling better. <3

Lots of viruses on the internet, perhaps we should wear a face mask when surfing ;-)

Maybe something he has brought home from the shops where somebody had a cold and touched the outer wrapping. Hope you feel better soon.

Haven´t been out of the house since Jan 7th as I have had a nasty bout of Meniers disease.
Just starting to think that I might venture out next week when WHAM.
Mother & Father of all colds. Streaming eyes, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat & chest.
What I want to know is, how did I get it?
OH is fine & apart from the doctor on 21st. I haven´t been in contact with anyone else.
Could it be germ warfare?
