That fire is still burning :-(

Northcliffe has been evacuated, and 60 firies from Victoria are expected to arrive on site today.

Also the Army will be involved.

60,000 Hectares burnt out, but fortunately, only two houses destroyed, and although a few people have had to be rescued, there have been no human casualties.

The coastal settlement of Windy Harbour has also been evacuated with residents told to shelter on the beach, from where they will be evacuated by boat

Scozz, from what I've just heard on the Radio the Manjimup fires appear to be near the townsite of Northcliffe, which is about 30kms south of Manjimup itself.

The problem with the Manjimup Shire is that at one time it was the major timber producing area of WA. Very heavily forested areas, and with the cut back in controlled burning, it has a very heavy fuel load :-(

Mum's cousins are in a retirement village...... I think there are three of them, all living in the same complex....... all ex RAAF.

Scozz, not heard anymore on the Manjimup fires yet, but I've got the radio on and the local SW news will be on at 0530.

I went to bed after posting last night, that's why I've taken a while to respond to your posting........... it's now 6am....... I was woken up by the noise of rain at 5.30am....... and had to get up to close windows....... now have wet bedroom carpet :-(

Scozz, from what I can gather, the Manjimup fires are in the Shannon National park, which is a bit away from the townsite

However, given the nature of the area, all things are possible. I'm sure that your rellies will be safe :-)

I'm waiting to hear from rellies in Manjimup! (my Mother's cousins). I hope they are OK. I know the fires are in the shire of Manjimup, and they live in the town, but it's worrying.

The fires are about 100 kms north of here. Some property destroyed, but no human casualties.

The wildlife and pets are a different matter :-(

I'm in an urban area, so not really under a major threat, although last week there was a major fire about 5 kms from here

There are terrible fires in SW Western Australia.

I haven't seen any posts by Allan in the last few days. I hope he and his wife are safe and well.
