Could someone please try and explain what the following letters mean on the register.
e.g.
111 RW - Fred Bloggs
112 R - Jim Bloggs
113 RW OW Mabel Smith

Don't forget that from 1894 women who owned property were enfranchised for local government elections.

This was not so uncommon as you may think.

After ww1 a lot of women found themselves widows, owners of property through running a small business e.g. shop, farrier, lodging house, pub.

Many of them never formally remarried. Not difficult to see why.
