I tried that years ago Sylvia, no luck. I'm not even sure where he lives........ his parents lived in Ontario, but he may have moved.

I've found lots of people with the same name as his younger brother! One of them was a paramedic in Ontario, nice fella, but not my cousin :-D

I've even tried Facebook! :-D

Oh what a shame your aunt was so unhelpful. I hope someday you can make contact with your cousins somehow.

Liz ~ I have no idea which section he worked.

My aunt & uncle emigrated to Canada in the early-mid 1950s, I barely remember them. They moved to Toronto, then to a country town in the mid 1980s.

I have a vague idea that cousin Al worked for RCMP (National) rather than a Province or State.

I did try to find his younger brother...... I know he worked with "Native Americans" or "First Nation" (I don't want to use the wrong words and offend anyone)..... got in touch with at least three men with the same name, but no joy.

But....... when we lived in the US I telephoned my aunt, tried to arrange a visit but she was always "busy". Her sister (who lived in Oz) said to me afterwards....... "that sounds like her, all for doing something, then backs off at the last minute".

Put me off trying to contact any of them for years after that.

Can you not contact the Police force he worked for, they must have a link to the retired cops. You can probably email them and they could forward your info to your relative. Worth a try

We were away at the weekend, met a lovely couple from Alberta in Canada.

The man was telling funny stories, including one invoving himself & police officers in Canada.

I joked that one of the officers might be my cousin who was in the RCMP. :-)

The man asked..... "What's your cousin's name?"

Very funny.......... everybody laughed......... but I gave my cousin's name......even though he would have retired at least five years ago.

And the man said....... "Not Al X from Ontario?"

I didn't believe it....... he knew my cousin!

No way of getting in touch, as he only met him through his job.

Cousin is my father's sister's son....... my aunt wrote to my mother for years, but the family lost touch after she died.

So Frustrating!!!
