Passports sent via the post office on Friday 6th, arrived here at 0830 this morning. Worth paying the extra I think. :-) :-)

A one week turnaround? That sounds brilliant, Ann :-) :-)

A friend took my renewal application back to UK and posted it there. 10 days later I had my new passport out here. That was 2 years ago before all the problems last year. Looks like they are back to normal. :-)

I have just returned from the post office having sent my old passport, my application and two new photos to Durham. I entered everything and paid for it online.
It cost me a little over $23 for registered post.
If, as, and when it is returned ... I'll be back ... to let you know.

OH is renewing his Canadian passport ..........

......... filled out the form, got the 2 signatures needed on Tuesday, had photos taken last Wednesday, took it down to the Passport Office on Thursday, they checked everything, punched holes in his current (out-of-date by 1 month) passport to cancel it, and said the new one should be delivered to the house "within 10 days" ...............................

everything has to be sent to the Data Centre in PEI :-)

he renewed it for 5 years .................... thought it might be tempting fate to get a 10 year one :-D

The courier company contacted me first thing this morning.
They will be making a delivery - my new passport - today.
That's 15 days total turnaround ... not bad at all for overseas ... judging by many of the 'horror' stories I have heard the time it has taken for passport renewal for many folks.
I thought I might have received e-mail notification - the application asked for it - when it was completed.
I checked their website with my reference number and it merely said 'despatched'; there was no date stated.
Regardless, I am well pleased with this 15 day time frame.
Now, if only there is sun somewhere in the world ...!

OH got his passport (Canadian) back in a week, by recorded delivery

Haven't had a Brit passport since 1974

It would have been nice to have notification, Ann. Oh, well.

Oh, you'll have fun if you apply for a new UK passport, Sylvia, believe me!
My recent Canadian passport took 15 days via my local Service Canada outlet.
The one five years ago took FIVE days in my hand, again via SC outlet.
I have been impressed with both 'sides' so far.
Possibly, these may be my last renewals .....?

Barry .............

we're Canadian citizens, and so carry Canadian passports ...........

no need to have a Brit one :-D

We are regularly surprised when things go well.

Far too long have UK residents suffered from incompetent/indifferent services from many quarters.

Judging from some media reports, it's much easier to procure false travelling documents.
