there was one off the coast here .............

8:12 pm Saturday 14 Feb, magnitude 3.4, under water about 12 km west of Vancouver, felt over about 100 km circle range.

we didn't feel a thing :-)

it's almost old hat for us ..................

Earthquakes Canada says the Pacific Coast is the most earthquake-prone region in Canada. Each year seismologists record and locate more than 1,000 earthquakes, most of them too small to be felt.

During the last 70 years, more than 100 earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 or greater have been recorded — some large enough to cause damage had they been closer to land.

The BIG one (ie 9 or over) is way overdue .......................... so we're all under earthquake watch, and (should) have earthquake kits sufficient to support the household (including pets) for at least 3 days, in a easy-to-reach spot even if the house falls down.

They know that so-called mega-quakes have traditionally occurred about every 300 years ............ they have geologic evidence of about 19 in the past.

We're about 100 years overdue for the next one.

so you didn't feel the earth shake? ;-)

I've just looked at the report, and see that someone has reported feeling it at Hervey Bay ........ that's where one of my cousins lives :-0

Mind you ......... knowing them, they're probably travelling somewhere :-)
