I haven't had time to study this but it looks interesting.

Good find, thank you for the info :-)

Thank you for that.

They have had the OS 7th series available for ages ... great that they now have a lot more, though there are still some gaps.

It is the very devil to get hold of older city street plans yet they provide a lot of clues as to how people lived in an age before motor cars were used. The 6in fills in nicely without forking out for repro maps on eBay :-)

I can't say about any other counties but the sites of Old Sussex Mapped and Old Hampshire Mapped are each full of goodies.

If you want to try a hard one have a look at the Gough Map.

It is the first ever road map of Britain but you need to take time to get your eye in with it as it is an East- West projection.

I don't suppose anybody has any clue as to where I might see historical sea charts.

Sharron, your best bet is probably The Royal Naval Museum, opposite HMS Victory in Portsmouth Dockyard.

Oh thank you for this Ann, it's great! The centre of the small town where some of my rellies lived has been bulldozed and a big shopping centre built (ugly!). I've been able to find where lots of them lived using this with the side by side viewer!! :-)

That is good Ann. I have yet to find the time to look at it.

I am enjoying exploring this! In 1921 the present site of our village school is described as a miniature rifle range! Must draw the attention of the local history society to this.
