If you don't know....... DH stands for Darling Husband...... most of the time

Other times (including this morning, the "tip" conversation) DH means.. something else.

:-)

Just saw on tv the wind speed is 185mph, unimaginable, it must be so scary. I am glad your o.h. stayed away from the tip, men are such stubborn beggars, or should I say obstinate? Hope you and all those in the area stay safe.

DH got petrol, then went to the supermarket. The carpark was full, and he had to go across the road & park in the community centre car park. Loads of people in the supermarket, the shelves nearly empty.

He came home drenched to the bone.

We're OK for food for a few days, but have no idea when the shops will be restocked. Our supplies come from Brisbane, and the roads are all awash.

He hasn't mentioned going to the tip, and I'm not bringing up the subject.

Brenda ~ I think you'll have a wet weekend in Pt Stephens.

Hope you're Ok LS...just watching TV here in south Sydney...looks scary .
We are on our way to Port Stephens for a couple of days for sons birthday and we hope weather is Ok.....
But that is nothing to what is going on further up the East coast...
Just seen a roof blown off in Yeppoon.
Thinking of all the folk who must be worried out of their minds...not just for themselves, but properties.
take care.

Have you heard from your other half?????

LadyScozz Report 20 Feb 2015 00:08

My DH is CRAZY!

He has a trailer full of garden waste (fig tree branches & dead palm fronds)... and he wants to go to the tip!!

I've been pleading/arguing with him all morning not to go.

I 'phoned the tip, asked if they were open... yes...... asked what condition the place was in...... very wet & very muddy (big surprise!).... and I told the man what DH wanted to do........ he said he wouldn't recommend it.

Awful screwed up faces from DH & saying I worry to much......... he says it will be OK. Talk about stubborn.

He gone out........ he said to get petrol...... he's wearing sandals, not "tip boots". I hope he doesn't sneak off to the tip.

Bl**dy men!

LS

I don't think any of them are so far north ....... although I'm not sure where some of the "kids" are, they've really moved around, including up north, and inland towards NT :-(

......... one cousin is near Hervey Bay, one on the Gold Coast, 2 near Noosa, one friend in Brisbane

at least the birds know they are safe :-)

Scozz, the north of WA is certainly having rain, but down here in the south-west, and our immediate area in particular, there has been no appreciable rainfall for nearly 100 days.

It has, however, been hot and muggy. Until recently it has also been very still; the usual afternoon sea breeze has also been absent :-(

Sylvia, I hope your friends & rellies aren't near Yepoon.

Any garden ornaments we have are very heavy... Henry the Gargoyle would weigh about 80kg :-D The stone circle will be fine....... about 1/4 of each stone is buried. Not joking, I really do have a stone circle. I might go out now and move a few light weight things on the back porch.

I am worried about the dead fig tree, but there's nothing we can do about it. I'm relying on Karma to make it fall into the neighbour's garden........ serve him right for poisoning it.

In "normal" weather we can hear the ocean, like white noise..... whooshing in the background........ tonight we can hear the ocean crashing!

Friends of ours are on a cruise, somewhere between NZ & Oz...... I hope they're nowhere near the storms.

Tomorrow will be "interesting".

Have you tied down or moved anything else in the garden which might fly off? You must be worried about that fig tree :-0

I said to DH that we didn't have much meat in the freezer, so if the shops close (if the power goes off) we won't have much.

He responded............ yes we do, there's a freezer full of muffins.
