About Alphosyl 2 in 1 shampoo and how it works

This medicine is used to treat dandruff, dermatitis, eczema or psoriasis of the scalp. It contains coal tar which relieves itching and helps restore skin structure by slowing down the process of cell production.

This medicine is available in the form of a shampoo which is applied to the scalp. You should massage this shampoo into wet hair and then rinse it off. You should then reapply and massage the shampoo into the scalp for several minutes before rinsing it off.

This medicine may increase sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid using sunlamps and do not expose your skin to direct sunlight while you are using this medicine.
Speak to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within four weeks or if they get worse during treatment with this medicine.

I had a word with the pharmacist yesterday about hubbies scalp problems and that Tgel didnt seem to be doing anything

He recommended a medicated shampoo called Alphosyl which is used twice a week for 4 weeks . Cost me £6

We did a shampoo this morning ,had to have two applications and rubbed in well to the scalp and left on the scalp for 4 mins in all .

His head is still looking healthy this evening with no flaking bits showing as yet

I even put some of the foam just inside his ears as they are very dry too from the droppings off his scalp

Pharmacist said get rid of hid dry dandruff and his Blepharitis should improve if not clear

will let you know if the shampoo works

My oh and I both have suffered with this in the past. We were told to bathe the eyelids in warm, boiled water with a drop or two of baby shampoo added to the water. Said to use a baby bud to apply, and rubbing the lids to remove the crusts.

I have dermatitis which I keep under control with B*dy Shop Ginger Shampoo, this helps to prevent the condition on the eyelids, too.

OH is an opticician and says golden eye will not help and may make things worse.
continue the bathing and consult your optician. LK

Thanks everyone.

I have looked at loads of medical sites including NHS.

I have suffered quite a while with Blepharitis but didn't now what it was as my vision had gone blurry in my right eye
Went to opticians for an eye test and I told her about the itching and burning in my eye.
She said it could be a bacterial infection to go see the doctor.

Just bathed my eye in Warm water and it has soothe it for now..

Shirley

I have the same problem as your hubby with dandruff and use Head and Shoulders as T Gel irritates my scalp more.

Hopefully will get an appointment with the doctor this week.

Will let you know how I get on.

I have this .Meibomian Blepharitis .It is a pain in the derriere :-S.Red inflamed lower eyelid (just in the one eye).My eye will water like mad sometimes .
The way I deal with it is to bathe the bottom lid where the inflamed bit is with a cotton wool bud soaked in really hot water.(as hot as you can put up with ).Keep doing this for maybe 15 minutes. It helps unblock a blocked duct...I buy something called Clinitas.Little individual pouches of eye drops .They are like artificial tears so help lubricate the eyeball..
Worth trying. Good Luck Sue.

Yes hubby suffers from it BIG TIME . he finds it best controlled with bathing his eyes several times a day with warm water and a lint pad

It goes on OK for a time but then needs antibiotic eys drops from the doctor

he does have very dry scalp too and get lots of dandruff type droppings on his shoulders .

We have now started to try and get that under control with daily shampoos of T gel anti dandruff shampoo.

His eyes get very inflamed and sore looking with the Blepharitis Its seems to be a constant battle to keep it contained

cotton wool pads soaked in warm boiled water as many times a day as possible, but use fresh cottton wool each time,,,,,,,, you can use an over the counter eye drops.----but keep eye area as clean as possible.a little golden eye ointment smeared along the eyelash line may help keep dryness at bay......

Its an on-going condition,,,,,,,,steer clear of eye make-up aswell,,,,,,,nothing worse to breed bacteria,,,

"When to see your GP
See your GP if you are unable to control the symptoms of blepharitis with simple cleaning measures alone (see below).

"Blepharitis cannot usually be cured, but a daily eyelid-cleaning routine that involves applying a warm compress – gently massaging your eyelids and wiping away any crusts – can help control the symptoms. "

This is quite a good site. It looks a bit off-putting as the first part is very technical, but if you scroll down to "Treatment" it should be helpful.

Has anyone suffered with this eye disease.??
