Just to clarify, Lydia sent me a PM giving the names of Thomas's siblings

"There were 8 children: Michael, James, Helen, William, THOMAS, Janet, Alexander and Margaret. "

Well it seems odd that only Thomas shows up in a normal search for Walkers born in Falkirk


So I found this record:

They moved away from Falkirk to Glasgow at least on a temporary basis, maybe looking for work.
However, Lydia, this William is not a mason, he is described as a Moulder and in 1871 Thomas isn't with the family either and William is an Iron Moulder.

Go to Search at the top right

Click on it, then click on Search All Member Trees

Enter the relevant information, and click Submit


If a connection appears, then send a pm (private message) to the owner of the tree ............. click on their name and write your message in there.

PLEASE do not use the automated message "Open Your Tree"!!

Many of us do not respond to those pms

Do give a short description of why you think there might be a connection between the two of you.



Keep an eye on your Sent Messages to see if your pm has been received and opened .................

Click on Sent Messages


If there is a green envelope to the left of the message you sent, it has not been opened

If there is no envelope, the message has been opened.

Thanks for all your posts..The 1871 census, unfortunately, does not relate to 'my' Thomas'.

Lydia is a new member, February 2015, and only has made 6 posts. She is probably only just finding her way round. I remember when I was a newbie and I needed quite a bit of help and guidance

What was William Walker's occupation? It's such a common name.
Also what were the names of his other children?

It was not my intention to have 'others' use their own money to view..I thought that if anyone had this particular person in their tree they could help fill in the blanks. I do have a membership to SP as well as Ancestry. So I am paying these sites for info. When I signed up to GR I was unaware that SCOTLAND records very few.

you probably need to look at Scotland's People ................. and that is a pay per view site, not a subscription site


so it is not fair to ask helpers to use their own money to view


You can, I believe, do a free search on SP ........... that will tell you whether there are any records relevant to Thomas Walker, and then you can decide whether it is worth you buying the credits to get the details.



Despite what it says, there are no real Scottish records on GR :-(

I am just trying to find out where he was from 1856 until his marriage in 1876. He was a baker (journeyman). His father was a stone mason
