Better day today. You are right though kids don't go in at the middle anymore. The worst we ever had was a boy of 10. Though we mainly sell children's things we do sell some adult too. For the 10 year old boy we had to order in a pair of adult trousers with a 54" waist. We could fit a Saturday girl in each leg. The poor boy had both parents with him so I know it was not caused by a medical problem. |

Quite often Ann, they would go back on the rails, as after all, the customer was always right !!! Especially in the early 1970s. |

Just wondering, the dresses that had been worn and returned. Did they get taken back without question? And were they then put on sale again? Just wondering :-D |

Some years ago I worked part time in a health food shop, supplements, organic fruit and veg etc. long before the supermarkets got in on the act. We attracted nutters from miles around. Every time a newspaper did an article on the latest "superfood", or "miracle cure" we had queues around the block. I wish I had kept notes, I could have written a book. I will probably now be castigated for use of the word nutters. Bob |

I think the average waist size now for a seven year old is around 24" now. Apparently the child had the 34" trousers and they were now too tight. I know occasionally there may be a medical issue which causes a child to gain weight. However in this case if there isn't I feel so sorry for that child. |

Had a bad day at work today. I work in a small shop which sells clothes and gifts for children. Two women came in today and after offering help which was turned down I carried on with invoicing. Two minutes later a voice shouts from the other end of the shop "oi you" the same two women have now decided they do want help. Another customer complained because the trousers for girls from 7 to 10 years with a pull cord waist start in a 20" waist but they only go up to a 36" waist and her child needs bigger. A 6 year old boy sent in alone by mum to buy his own top as she does not want to leave the car and to top off a wonderful day someone needs 50 identical mugs for tomorrow. We don't keep 50 identical mugs in at a time we keep around 10-15 of each of the 5 mugs we sell as they are ceramic and so not popular with young children. |
