Well it´s arrived and now turned on. Bit noisier than my tatty chest, so hoping it quietens down. The man nearly left my chest behind and there was me thinking yeah I no somebody who will buy this for €20/30. Just before he got in the van he remembered it ! :-0. I might have got to keep it if I had pushed but didn´t think I could be cheeky enough but also if the person looking for a freezer has got one then I would have to get rid of it. :-D.

Scozz that´s quite a good way of organising any freezer, I used to colour dot my things or use coloured pegs on them ...beware the freezer wrecks the pegs and area managers think you are just a little bit more crazier then they already thought you were. :-0

Shelly I will probably regret losing my tatty as I was quite good at packing it to the hilt, but it needed to go and the new one is bigger.

Bob I am not saying a word :-0 ;-)

I saw a tip the other day, easy way to organise a chest freezer.

Available in Oz, don't know about anywhere else, the coloured shopping bags (most supermarkets have them).

Keep everything in colour-coded bags, for example, red bags for red meat, yellow bags for chicken, green bags for veggies, brown bags for bread etc.

Easy to find what you're looking for & you won't be bent over the freezer for so long.

Years ago, when I couldn't keep my hands off my wife, she was bent over the freezer looking for something, and my libido got the better of me. We can't show our faces in Tesco's ever again. Bob

Sylvia I have had both in the past but have always preferred the uprights, but when offered the small chest free I wasn´t going to say no. It has done for us well these last few years but I know it´s on it´s way out (the lid is a little dodgy) and although it still works well, seeing exactly what I wanted at the right price was just too good to refuse.

It will just be my luck for my half and half to pack up and I will wish I had bought a larger upright :-D :-D. shhhhh I never said that :-0

we bought a new freezer 4 or 5 years ago .....................

we had bought the old one second hand, from a friend.

It was a big chest freezer ....................... I used to have to hang head down over the side in order to reach the bottom, and sometimes I was worried that I might actually tip over into it if I went over the crucial point of balance.

We had it for at least 20 years, and then it started acting up.

So we bought an uptight freezer, with shelves and a couple of drawers at the bottom.

What a difference!

It's much easier to see everything ................ and it is also an energy saver.

You'll love the new one ............... especially with the good deal on it :-)

I saw just on the off chance an upright freezer that I liked the look of (and price). Dragged OH to see it. We ummed and arrred as you do and decided to think about it. After all we had a perfectly good working small chest freezer. When I say perfectly good working I mean it worked.
It was old ..we had been given it 5yrs ago because others left it on next doors holiday rental parcela when we lived on the campsite.

So we thought about it and this freezer was just what I wanted in size etc as it isn´t a full size upright nor as small as an undercounter PLUS they have an exchange deal going on. This meant that I got €60 for my old freezer. If I sold privately I would have been lucky to get €30 for it.
We went and bought the new freezer, but the door had a very slight dent in it. ..The size of a pencil end. So they said they would change the door and let me know when it was done.
I joked and said to OH if they had knocked €10 off I would have taken as is, after all it is going in the utility.

Today the nice man from the shop arrived ....yeah though me because I thought it was being delivered. 3 days late.
Alas no...the nice man came to tell me that they can´t change the door for 60-90 days if they can locate one in that time. He had looked for a different freezer for me of that capacity but they were all €100 more.
He offered me the freezer I wanted complete with pics of the dent (I had already seen it) for €20 off so I joking said make it €30 and deliver tomorrow.

Done deal. ........maybe I should have gone for keeping the old freezer also :-D

Still tomorrow I shall have a freezer with drawers, it will be nice not to hold the lid up with my head ! --Also it´s going to be better on the leccy as it´s an A*
