Welcome to the boards and GR Susan

There is no real way of discovering if people are still active users of this site as GR never removes dormant accounts. Many of the original members were retired or approaching that age - one can imagine that a number have now passed away.

As a rule of thumb, the higher the membership number, the more recently they joined this site.

Check your sent message box - if there is still an envelope icon, the message hasn't been read.
Apart from death, illness or lack of interest, people have been known to change their email address but not up-dated their account on GR. Your message has ended up in the ether!

If you'd like assistance, post on the appropriate board
Genealogical Chat for general research advice (but don't worry if it develops into a look-up thread)
Find Ancestors for help with a specific, named, deceased person
Find Living Relatives for people you have lost contact with or would like to find contact details for.

What ever you do, please don't post the same request on different boards - helper get terribly cross

I am doing a two week trial to see if I can use the site some of my family members are on other peoples family trees how do I know if these people are still active on the site I have tried to contact three different people but no answer to my messages
