Mc'Tavish on his deathbed says to his faithful retainer, "after I've gone, I want you to empty my wine cellar and all that whiskey, and pour every drop over my grave"........."Certainly master" he says, "but would ye mind if I just filter through my kidneys first?"

They used to say doing something alone made you go blind, so I guess it was much safer to use a lady of the night then! :-D :-D :-D

Every person in my family tree who suffered an early death ( after 18 and before 65 ) NOT due to enemy action was a teetotaler. OTOH the others survived well into their 70s and beyond. A few never far from their malt holed out at > 90. Top score of 113 to an emigrant to New England who built his own log house, fought the Indians and of course built his own still.

Excess alchohol is of course a bad thing and will like any excess likely lead to an early demise. Take my colonial rellie's advice and never drink beyond the point at which you can shoot straight and you'll be ok.

Scotland was invented so as to make malt whiskey. The Good Lord in his wisdom so arranged things that the Americans and Irish learned to make it too.

Sainsbury sell packs of cheap lager and bitter 4/£1. It is just over 2% and a whole lot cheaper and better tasting than non alco. beers and branded mineral water. It would be quite difficult to drink enough of it to bend your driving licence and is a pretty safe choice when driving.

You'll be delighted to know that drinking wine does not make you fat.

I have discovered that it makes you lean..........

against tables, chairs, floors, walls and people.
