I did not know BC or dutch and hardly ever read their threads.

The one member of GR that I did know, because I worked with her, only ever posted a couple of times on the boards but I did not post a thread when she died. Her mother was also a member.

R.I.P. Diana. Gone but not forgotten.

No it wouldnt have been worse dizzi, we know GR unpin, we expect it, in time, however what isnt is people suggesting they mail Gr and ASK for it to be unpinned, and suggesting people need to move on, no one is saying we havent,

I find it disrespectful and rude. my opinion, im allowed one,

and it doesnt matter how many think its right, some think its wrong, to even suggest it. Let it be till Gr feel the need to unpin it as has always happened, wether its been then 7 days or 7 month, what harm is it doing??? Really.

no one has a problem if GR just unstickied it, its the fact people are suggesting they do, it is disrespectful to some of us regardless wether 1 person or 50 is offended, some are

why are your opionions more important than ours??!!

Oh and please do not! Try telling us, what BC would be thinking, coz we new her on a personsl level, so we know exactly what she would say thank you,

Shirley aaked for our opinions, we have given them.

As I sadly added to Dutch's thread, I too thought that the other threads had been stickied for an uncommonly long time and wondered why that was so.

It's always difficult to move on from loss and each of us reacts in different ways depending on the strength of our relationship with the person who has gone.

I think Sylvia put things very well and Shirley or others should not be attacked for their comments and suggestions. I also think BC would not like the way Shirley has been 'spoken' to, however much people are still hurting at her loss. BC would be the first to want things calmed down.

I don't know if gr will pick up on this thread and take action on those stickied threads but it is certainly not something that should cause such nastiness

Shirley didn't mention anything about BC's thread when she posted - there are now 4 In Memorium ones at the top of the board. Of those, 2 have been 'unattended' for quite some while.

GR used to automatically un-pin a thread after a given time, something like 4 weeks. Unfortunately, as long as the software works, they take little interest on what goes on or how long a thread is abandoned at the top of the board.

No one likes to see another suffer - hopfully Hayley can come to terms with her loss with the help of her close friends. They say the first year is the worst. X

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Mar 2015 00:29

and before another of us asks to have the BC thread unstickied??????????????

13 posters out of 18 on this thread support Shirley

so I hope that Shirley does NOT remove this thread

sorry, Joy, Hayley, Stray, etc

it's time to let BC rest in peace,

and for the rest of us to get on with our lives

JoyBoroAngel Report 25 Mar 2015 00:25

Theirs no right way or wrong way to grieve
Everybody is different everybody copes how they can
its not wallowing its love
Hayley was closer to BC than any of us
I held Hayley hand during the funeral
So I know how much she hurts I seen it in her eyes
She has hardly posted since BC died
Because she is and was devastated and still is

I myself would like to give Hayley a ((hug)) <3

Before Shirley kindly deletes this thread
that has opened old wounds Please :-D :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Mar 2015 00:11

IF GR read this thread, they will see that the majority of posters actually support the unpinning

4 against, and 13 for it to be unpinned, plus one ambivalent

TIME FOR CLOSURE,

THERE IS NOTHING STOPPING YOU

GB .............

there did once seem to be a time limit of a matter of weeks

........ and I believe that GR has been contacted in the past to unsticky threads that seemed to have been up for longer than "normal"

and I know that they complied, because the time limit was over

and, no, I was not the one who did the asking back then

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 24 Mar 2015 23:20

Surely there has to be a limit for a thread to be stickied otherwise the first page would just be that and nothing else.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Mar 2015 23:14

the words ..................

"storm in a tea cup" come to mind

and some of the words used on this thread are beyond what is polite and reasonable

some of you ought to be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves for the names you have called other people and the words you have used.

I did not know BC well, but enjoyed the few contacts I had with her

.............. I'm pretty sure that the woman I assume her to be would not have approved of some the things that have been said.

Grieving is one thing

wallowing in it is another!

and I already know that some of you don't like what I say ...................

but here goes .....................

it's time to let her go and rest in peace

it is not as if GR was going to be asked to remove the thread, it would still be on the Board, and you could raise it any time you liked by posting on it.

I remember some of the members who have died in the past ................. their threads only remained stickied for a matter of weeks.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 24 Mar 2015 21:47

but it was been read :-( :-(

StrayKitten

And so do we rose,

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 24 Mar 2015 21:08

I have asked for the thread I started to be unpinned, it wasn't me who asked for it to be pinned.

Stella hadn't been a member of GR for some years and I just wanted to let people who may remember her know that she had died.

I don't see why I shouldn't feel able to ask that a thread I started be unpinned, especially when I didn't want it pinned in the first place.

GR used to unpin threads as a matter of course but they have very little interest in what happens on the boards these days.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 24 Mar 2015 21:06

There was no disrespect intended. It would have been disrespectful to have this discussion on a pinned thread.

I agree with Rose. Perhaps the difference in opinion comes from the way we mourn/commemorate, our own relatives?
