It is really not much more than a bi-metallic strip I think.

A little job.

I don't think I want to go through all the draining and removing and hauling a great lump of metal up and down stirs bit when it might just be a matter of unscrewing a little thing and twiddling with something.

Then there would be all the dripping taps and calling out of plumbers because there is a lot of loose solder floating about in the water system.

Oh, I do hope it is only the thermostat that needs replacing.

Council contractors had to change the thermostat on my heating system.
I was told it would be done the next day. Then told the wrong part was ordered, and it would take a week at least.
I asked them why, if it took a day for the first (wrong) one to be delivered, it would take a week for the second one to be delivered?

I also informed them that Screwfix, about a mile away sold the thermostat, and that I was willing to collect it for them, that day, at the cost of the thermostat, plus £30 for my time.
Also, if they were unable to fix it the following day, I knew a plumber who could, and, as they were a plumbing firm, they would be aware of his likely charges.

They came around that afternoon :-D
It took the boiler man all of 3 minutes to change the thermostat.
....I wonder how they miraculously managed to get hold of the elusive 'right part' that same day?
