Some BHF branches aren't so obliging. A relative has recently moved out of a flat share as the lease was up. Their flat mate arranged for the charity to collect some furniture and various bags of other items.

She had to wait in from 9-5 with nothing to do in an empty flat. They came just after 5. They refused to take a chest of drawers because of a water mark neither would they take the bags despite the organiser saying they would. Said chest of drawers and bags have now been taken to the Dump. What a waste!
Because of work commitments and needing to quit the flat there was no time to make alternative arrangements.

Brenda is right. BHF will call to collect.

I rang The British Heart Foundation recently and they called to the house to collect
Some bedroom furniture and a few boxes which were mostly books.
I received 2 separate letters last week.
The old bedroom furniture ( basic Ikea stuff) raised £140, and the boxed goods raised almost £40.

Joy, I work in a library and we survive on book donations.
A donated copy is often in better condition than the one on the shelf, so we swap them over.
We keep it and send the old one off to a recycle company.

I filled 7 cases that were up in the loft as I never went up there.OH had obviously just put them in there when we moved here in 2000.
Fortunately they were empty ,so I filled them all up with books and the Heart foundation picked them up...and with Gift Aid on top they should have done quite well.
They were very pleased with the suitcases as well.
Got loads of CDs and even some videos, but don't think anyone wants these now...in fact I've got lots of vinyl records, stamps etc..My OH was a collector of all sorts and I must get rid.
I still have more books to dispose of,but am getting there....slowly!

I have off loaded a lot of my fiction books recently. I hate doing it but I was thinking of people having to sort them after I have gone. Still got as many again and more on the shelves though.

i did just the same last year Gwen after i had been quite ill and i worried that if something had happened to me all my books would be put in a skip so i took loads of fiction and art books (some expensive) to the Barnado's charity for them to sort out
and hopefully sell on to people that would appreciate them.
i am still keeping lots of non-fiction and poetry books tho'..lol

My innerself thinks i can take them with me when i eventualy have to go.. :-D
