Bordon "camp" nr Alton was a large permanent army barracks with men's families living there with them. It has only recently been sold off by the MoD.

It began as Kinlay, Kenlay or Kinly.... I've traced back to my 8xgreat-grandfather c1658 in Tranent East Lothian. My 3xgreat-grandfather b1817 in Tranent added the Mc

I know how to spell it, as it's my maiden name.

Family members who went to the USA and England changed the spelling to McKinley; all my relatives (that I know of) in Scotland spell it with an A.

The medal roll card says he was a 2nd Lieutenant in the MGC - Machine Gun Corps.

I also googled "MCG Military"

That's where I found his date of death.

There's a website showing many of the young men from Midlothian who died........ more information on that website than CWG.
