Les I know that 'modern technology' is not something most of us are used to, and it does take ( me anyway) years to keep up with what can now be done in the way of fake photos... so I don't think that anyone was 'having a go' at you, just wanting to set the record straight...not particularly out of any respect for Blair, but out of respect for the soldier, and for the truth.

You are by no means the only one to fall for fakes online, so I do hope you will continue to post, just be wary that if something like that photo pops up, and it seems in any way 'unlikely' ( that even TB would be daft enough to be caught in a photo like that) just check it out first...if unsure how, lots of people here will willingly help by using google search...

:-)

I've just read through your thread about Tony Blair again and, like Rose, I don't think any of the comments are aimed at you Les, just the people who put this sort of thing on the internet.

Don't let it put you off posting again - there are few enough people on these boards at the moment - we can't afford to lose any more.

PatinCyprus Report 13 Apr 2015 14:17

Leslie,

Please don't take it to heart. There are many people taken in by things like this. We receive lots of e-mails telling us to pass the information on and find that they're all rubbish.

If in doubt check on Google or another search engine or start a thread on here. Just phrase it different to your obvious disgust at what you thought was a genuine photo. You'll soon have the information from people on here.

Remember many things are started to deceive, it could be about an individual or a group. Just think to yourself who benefits from such rubbish. It may also be a satirical piece taken out of context.

We all get caught at least once. Those who upset you by their comments should have thought more about how you would receive their comments. You were angry about what you saw and wanted to let people know that's all.

Hope to see you on here in the future. :-) :-) :-) <3 <3 <3

Maybe a lesson to all to check out dubious photos before passing them on.

Les,
Don't despair.
A friend on put an offer she'd found on FB for a free sample of some type of 'youth' cream. Sister and I looked, then sister phoned me to check she was right with her thoughts, yes she was. They sent a free sample of cream - but to receive this cream, you had to provide your card details (a bit like FMP and their 'free' months). :-|
A week later, £70 was removed from your account.
Sister had to subtly explain to her friend that she had been conned - and could she take down the offer.

FB also regularly has people 'liking' photo's/articles etc only for someone to inform them, they're 'liking' the BNP!!!!

Being conned is soooo easy on the internet :-P

When my friend was on Jobseekers, he applied for jobs, only to realise the 'Temp' agency was one huge con.
They'd been getting money from the Government to provide jobs, but they'd always gone when my friend phoned. That was because there never were any jobs, and the 'agency' didn't exist.
I believe they're under investigation.

Dermot Report 13 Apr 2015 17:41

It's not illegal to 'like' BNP on FB - or have I missed that edict?

Leslie - stick with us. My elder brother is also Leslie.

Sorry Dermot, this was a very left wing black friend :-D
He thought the article was supporting soldiers - it was, but had been 'stolen' from another Website. By 'liking' it and sharing it, you were indicating your support for the BNP

Difficult conversation followed....Umm, Dave.......
