There is a Caffe Nero in Taunton. edit, I see there are branches in Weston Super Mare, Clarks Village and Wells, so not a million miles from the levels.
There is even a Costa Coffee in Minehead now.

There are some bits of Somerset that the well known chains have got to.

Liz - I get double points at Sainsburys.

I also get free mobile calls, texts and data without paying a single penny.

Graham - they aren't a chain in London - they are all over the UK. I was sitting in one yesterday and was a couple of hundred miles from the capital and yes, they do have a number of shops in Somerset (I've visited them).

Sylvia - I do it all the time as well as various other forms of modern foraging - over the past few months I have saved hundreds upon hundreds of pounds in various ways.
Last week my food shop (which included venison, a large beef joint and a side of salmon) should have come to roughly £80 and I paid well less than £10.

Anyone notice that Sainsburys have halved the amount of points they pay out and stopped giving points for bag re-use!

The supermarket we use most of the time has a loyalty program. You have a choice on how you use your points, we usually convert them to $$ and can use the dosh at the supermarket and many other stores

The supermarket sells gift cards for many stores, including one of the biggest hardware stores in Oz......... next time we want a load of things from the hardware store, we're going to get gift cards for ourselves!

:-)

There's always a blurb at the bottom of the receipt from the supermarket, a discount at petrol stations......... the closest one to us us about half an hour drive away!

Ah. I just Googled 'Caffè Nero'. Apparently they're a chain of coffee shops in London. ;-) There aren't many coffee shops on the Somerset Levels. ;-)

Caffè Nero? Americano? Have I just slipped into a parallel universe? :-S

Would that be the UKIP/BNP/Referendum Party coalition Dermot? :-D

I'm going to vote 'Coalition' next month.

On the other hand, as they have a vast array of gift cards for other companies (at least 50 odd), you could make quite a saving on a tank of fuel.
All you do is buy gift cards for yourself and use them instead of cash when buying at anywhere from PC World to WH Smith (because you do not have to spend the full value of the gift card in one transaction).
Or if you use somewhere like Caffè Nero on a regular basis, work out what you spend over a period of time and buy a gift card instead and use it each time you buy an Americano and a big slice of fattening sticky sludgecake.
Buying a new washing machine? Purchase it from Currys with a gift card and get the fuel savings.
Spend £500 and you would get a massive 50p per litre saving. Not bad on a full tank of fuel in my book.
Box clever and it could actually be a rather good offer.

In Morrisons if you buy a gift card for £10 you get one pence off your petrol. So if I bought about £2000 worth of gift cards it wouldn't cost me anything to get to the supermarket and back.

I didn't see many people queueing to buy gift cards. I wonder why... :-\
