I sent a message to someone on here who shares an ancestor with me and yesterday I saw that they had opened it :-D

Just hope they reply and they know something I dont. I'm always happy to share my info.

Researching:
Matthew and Jane Elwood who had my great great grandfather Francis Edward Elwood baptised in 1807 at Horsham Sussex. There is no sign of Matthew or Jane from this date and my great great grandfather was brought up as Francis Edward Elwood MITCHELL

I don't think you can necessarily expect an instant answer - while I always try to get back soon I often think "I must check what information I have when I have time to do it properly" but have to put off replying until l can!

I always cover my back by saying something like this:

'My tree details are not guaranteed but they are the best I have discovered so far. Please let me know if you spot any inaccuracy & I would love to hear if you have additional family information I might add to my tree. Thanks'.

It works for the benefit of both occasionally.

Good idea Dermot I do always say that my tree is correct to the best of my knowledge and add things to the individual notes if I am in any doubt.

I have the marriage certificate and a few other bits and bobs for the person I am asking about and I'm happy to scan them and pass them on.
