No amount of belief makes something a fact. :-)

Graham

Graham Report 18 Apr 2015 11:25

Is that a fact? :-S

:-D :-D :-D

maggiewinchester Report 18 Apr 2015 11:31

Can I believe you? :-D

Dermot

Dermot Report 18 Apr 2015 11:40

This kind of kumbaya belief isn't the reality - so I belive.

Budgie Rustler

Budgie Rustler Report 18 Apr 2015 11:41

Graham, :-D
I`m not so sure about it being a fact but....

It is the mark of an educated mind, to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Maggie, would I lie to you! :-0

xxx :-D :-D

How would I know, Budgie ? :-D

Dermot

'Never a frown is found on a clock face'.

Begorrah! Would you be ever after believing that?

Budgie Rustler

Atheism is the arrogant belief that the entire universe was not created for our benefit.

Dermot

Dermot Report 19 Apr 2015 09:47

'Cruel people lack compassion'.

Denburybob Report 19 Apr 2015 13:13

Budgie Rustler, I would agree with your sentiment if you remove the word "arrogant". I strongly believe that some time in the future, and the sooner the better, there will be no human race left on this earth. We have fought over it, plundered it, poisoned it and it will one day no longer sustain us.

Budgie Rustler

Budgie Rustler Report 19 Apr 2015 14:38

Bob matey,
Atheism is a derogatory term invented by some cultist religions to denigrate folk that know there are no such things as gods. The use of the word "arrogant" that I used, is meant as a form of sarcasm.

Here's another little quip for you...
If ignorance of Nature gave birth to Gods, then knowledge of Nature is calculated to destroy them.

Dermot

Dermot Report 19 Apr 2015 16:19

Atheists spend all their time rubbishing other people's beliefs.

Graham

Graham Report 19 Apr 2015 16:21

So do religious people.

Dermot

Dermot Report 19 Apr 2015 16:44

Graham - I don't doubt you on that point.

Budgie Rustler

Budgie Rustler Report 19 Apr 2015 16:46

Religion does three things quite effectively: divides people, controls people, deludes people.

Dermot

Dermot Report 19 Apr 2015 16:52

There is a smidgen of nonsense in every belief. Not sure what the constituent of non-belief is.

There is a popular assumption that the exercise of a modicum of intelligence would see our religious beliefs evaporate. Religious beliefs exist despite the intelligence factor.

I had a frank and meaningful exchange of views with a GW who thought that to be a decent human being one had to believe in god. I find this attitude insulting.

I think for most Christians, the Bible is like a software license. Nobody actually reads it, they just scroll to the bottom and click "I agree."

Dermot

Dermot Report 19 Apr 2015 19:41

Budgie Rustler - you are trying too hard. Let the Christians think for themselves.

Denburybob

Denburybob Report 19 Apr 2015 22:07

Actually, I do read the bible. I don't believe a word of it, but it can supply you with some good arguments. JWs don't like people who have answers for their beliefs.
