We had great tits squatting in a sparrow box, then we went away for two weeks and now they are nowhere to be seen. don't know if they had babies or what happened so it is very frustrating. I suspect they flew off and made another nest somewhere. :-(

Don't really know Jane, I'd copied a successful box but made it taller to accommodate the camera.......the one I copied is empty, this year......

I don't think ours is in use altho we have lots of tits around, it was used for a few years tho.

Our blackbird nesting in the overgrown jasmine next to the patio door has four eggs to sit on, I managed to get a photograph early this morning when she left the nest. She is almost at eyelevel so I speak to her often. I am pretty sure she is the one who was born last year and hung around our garden a lot as she has a wonky wing. She can fly well enough but seemed slow at doing it last year, I put out lots of bits for her to eat to help build her up and it seems to have paid off. Hope the male will help out when she needs him. We will be away in early June so not around to help out in those later weeks of the fledging.

We have magpies around so hope they will not be a threat to the eggs and little ones, but I don't think they can get to the nest.

Good luck to all the wonderful birds trying to incease their population.

WELL!!
yesterday around 2pm, she moved off the nest(as they do) for a wee and a Pie........LOL)

and there were two chicks,
this morning 8 am
I could see only two eggs, so I guess 8 have hatched and at this time I think the other two have also hatched its only infra red light and a poor webcam but nest sure looks crowded......!!
at 20:20 there are 9 chicks and one egg in the nest
