The Russian government issued a medal, the Ushokov, to Arctic Convoy veterans. It is not awarded posthumously so I applied for it using a form passed to me by the MOD when I applied for Fred's Arctic Star. |

The Russians never issued their medal to Royal Navy sailors as to qualify the sailor had to have set foot in a Russian port and the Andrew was barred from Russian waters even when we were sending them Spitfires and other war supplies. Neither did they once do anything about rescuing anybody from sinking ships. |
