Great to hear some good news, hope things go better for you and Conker now. I was thinking earlier that maybe warm, not hot, water might get him to drink more in one go and would soften things too but sounds as tho Conker will be fine now.

Hope Baby will stay well and both of them will enjoy the summer together

That's great news Lavender and hopefully if things are slowly moving now he will be starting to feel a bit better. Did it look like the result of what he normally eats? I just wonder if he'd eaten something different he'd found. I suspect the main blockage may still be on it's way out so to speak, but it sounds as if all the things you are doing are working.

I don't blame you keeping your distance with your poor leg in case you got kicked. Little ponies can be very quick and even a tread on your toe can be very painful, let alone knocking into a poorly leg!! He sounds like a clever little chap knowing who comes to fuss him and who is the bearer of the dreaded 'treatment'. I bet you will sleep better tonight.

He should be producing normal manure within a week. After that you can relax a little but be warned colic can come back if the reasons for it are not sorted out. Glad you are taking advice about their diets going forward.

More poop this morning but next to nothing really. However, we do feel as if we are getting there. He needed some pain relief at lunchtime, we let him rest a while before a walk and now grazing quietly on paddock that is almost bare. He drank when I took him the bucket, just trying to encourage him when he won't be bothered to go and find it!

Daughter and I feeling the need to comfort not only him but ourselves, have had an enjoyable hour choosing a really large double-wheeled barrow for them, new equipment for picking poops, a new lunge rein and lead reins, a new head collar, shampoo and conditioner, new brushes etc. It's done us all good to feel we are looking after him. Our daughter has given him a really good groom which he enjoyed and shampooed some of the olive oil out of his tail. Think it's going to take a while to remove.

Talking to horse owners at the farm/pony stores, I am getting the feeling that we have been lucky not to have had more problems in the past with these little guys. I think it's probably because their grazing paddocks are so small. We have been given some really good advice as to a change in their diet with the addition of a feed for older ponies which can be added to their normal mix.

It's been a long week but so worthwhile. Will be glad to see some more Results... <3

Small steps but better than what could have been, lavender.

To get the oil from his tail don't wet it before shampooing, apply neat shampoo, work It through and rinse well. He is going to be the smartest little chap going with all the pampering and grooming. Hope he makes massive strides over tbe weekend

Thank you!

Poop Update :-D

Yesterday, Conkie got himself all of a shiver after spending too much time in the showers of rain. The vet gave him a muscle relaxant/painkiller for his tummy ache. It was a stressful day.

We bought him a lovely, warm, waterproof rug which soon warmed him up, and my husband fitted cctv in his stable. He still hadn't passed more than about 8 ozs of poop since the beginning of his illness despite huge quantities of oils both ends!

However…

Today, 7 piles of sloppy poop!!! :-0 :-0 :-0 :-D :-D :-D

Relief for us all and a much happier pony. Spoke with the vet again this afternoon for follow-up.

Our little grandson was even held on his back as he walked back into his stable.

So pleased with the waterproof coat that the little Baby is going to keep the foal sized one, too. Good idea since they are both getting older and even though they have really thick coats, some winters can be really cold.

Hoping it's an end to it but we are told to continue with the paraffin for a while yet <3
