I don't want to join Facebook but I would like to see if a certain person is on there. Is there any way I can do this without joining please.

and if you don't want anybody to find you


you can always block them :-D :-D

you have to join to look or look on somebody else's account t ;-) ;-)

and its also good to keep in contact with those special friends

you could use a fake name if you wanted
but how would your friends know to contact you ;-)

I use Facebook mainly to see the photos and videos of my grandchildren..things i would normally miss as i don't see a lot of them

You choose who you want to see your page.. just your friends or the whole world..lol

Give it a try, and as Joy says.. you can always de-activate your account if you do not like it. :-D

I use FB as you do Stella...it's the only way I know what's going on with family and friends...I rarely post anything myself,unless it's a sunset or something,but I have contacted some old friends ,,and it has helped a bit with family history..another benefit is Messenger and you can talk to friends who have it just like a phone...and it's free .Its the way I talk to one son in Oz now!

I use a nickname, so people can't find me, and my friends really are my friends :-D

I thought when you de-activated your account it would be
still there if you joined again, apparently not, tried it and it
wants all info again :-(

I'm addicted to FB but, like Maggie, I use another name and choose all of my friends carefully.

It's a great way of keeping in touch with overseas family as well as family nearer to home. Good fun when used sensibly!

I'm not a member but my son has signed up with a different email and slightly mangled personal details in order to get access to the rest of the world!

Who knows - I hear far worse on a daily basis.

You must use a name by which you are usually known in the real (proper) world. This may not necessarily be the name on your birth certificate, obviously.

But Facebook will investigate if it is flagged up that you are deliberately using a fake name and can (and do) ask for physical proof that you are who you say you are.
