Two way Family Favourites was definitely on in the '60's

I listen to 'The Navy Lark' on radio 4 extra, now.

I knew I was missing some of the 'nuances' when I was young, but didn't know what!

Ann, I believe Cliff M's wife was called Jean Metcalfe.

The signature tune to the show was With a Song In My Heart.

I lived in hope that my OH would make contact through Family Favourites when he was in Singapore doing his national service - but no such luck - Pat Boone with "I'll be Home" always made me cry

Two way family favourites with Cliff Michelmore and (her name escapes me, was it his wife?) Maybe that was the 50s not sure if it went on into the 60s. Loved the Navy Lark, once saw a live broadcast from HMS Ark Royal in Portsmouth Dockyard.

Strangely enough, I cannot eat roast beef and yorkshire pudding, without hearing Kathleen Harrison in my head, from Meet the Huggets.

Of course the Navy Lark...................................left hand down a bit.

Happy Days.
:-)

Two way Family Favourites always tickled me as a kid. When they said Nicosia I thought they said Knickers Here!

:-D :-D :-D

We had family discussions on Sundays, especially when dad was home. By discussions, it was a time when we could say what we wanted and get a reasonable response from mum and dad - no-one wanted to 'spoil' Sunday lunch with an argument.
Being the much youngest of 4, (2 brothers, 1 sister) and very innocent, the discussion about the pill sticks in my memory. :-( The one time I wished Two Way Family Favourites was on.

My Dad wasn't down the pub, he was doing the ironing listening to his comedy LPs (Morecombe and Wise, Kenneth Williams and others I don't remember) while Mum cooked lunch for 2pm and listened to the radio.

Then it was an hour of radio while eating lunch, the Clitheroe Kid, Round the Horne, The Navy Lark, et al.

In the evening at 7pm Sing Something Simple.

Thanks for bringing back the memories
:-D

Oh I forgot....Mornings were the Morning Service, the Archers and then Family Favourites.
