Why can't I find an ancestor on 1911 census.

My uncle, who was just a little boy, five I think, is not on the census at all but My dad's cousin is on it twice, in two different places.

the wild card facility is really useful on ancestry where there are so many errors :-)

It can also be used on freebmd if you are not sure of the full spelling of the surname OR of the forename(s)

I don't know whether FMP has it or not?

one tip ...........

I always use the wild card * when I have trouble finding a name on Ancestry

so I would have used the following to search fro your guy

Dav* Higginb* 1883 Derbyshire

There are several other Higginbottom/Walker births registered in Chesterfield after the 1911 census.

It's simply a mistranscription on Ancestry, Higginbotton instead of Higginbottom. David signs his name Higginbottom.

I have found my ancestor on FMP but not on Ancestry..

Just seems weird.

Ancestor is David Higginbottom born 1883 in Brampton Derbyshire but can I eck as find him on Ancestry.

A little bit of help please.
