Here is a very good but PC incorrectly named pub I found when visiting the Preston Bus Station ( which was going to be demolished but wasn't)

I don't think names should be changed for PC. In any case the savagery of fighting cocks should not be forgotten and the practice is far from ended in England and Wales.

It appears that PETA, the animal rights group, want one of England's oldest pubs, Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, to change it's name to Ye Olde Clever Cocks, to "reflect compassion for animals" and "...reflect today's rejection of needless violence and help celebrate chickens as the intelligent, sensitive and social animals they are". Did I miss 1st April somewhere? Having kept chickens, I saw no sign of intelligence, in fact it would be easy to deduce that they are among God's more stupid creatures.
