It is free for users of Win7 onwards and is well worth the upgrade.
Rollo is spot on about it being a no-brainer and you can download it but not install - you have a year in which to perform an install.

For the more technically minded, my recommendation is to run a dual boot machine with Win7 or Win8 running alongside Win10

If you've got a year to take advantage of the upgrade, is it worth holding on for a bit to
let them find sort out the initial issues it's bound to have?

I am on Microsoft 7 and OH (in electronics/IT all his working life) downloaded this on our computers yesterday.

It's free and you have a year to install once downloaded. If you don't like it you uninstall. OH says think of it as bits of Microsoft 7 and 8.

Here's 2 links that may help. You can get to other pages of info from them :-)

Microsoft are keeping to their tradition of alternative releases of windows being terrible. winvista flop XP great win8 flop win9 never2bseen win10 best ever. Win10 has a new and much better browser, lots of new useful cool stuff, hardly any win7 annoyances and is far more secure. Amazingly it is relaxed about hardware required too and will run fine on most anything. ug free from win7 is a no brainer.

When I switched on my computer this morning the Windows Update icon was present, I clicked on it and it displayed an invitation fro Microsoft to register foe a free upgrade to Windows 10.

I am currently using Windows7 Home Edition. so can anyone, in simple layman's language, without any technical jargon, advise on whether or not it is a good idea to upgrade to Windows 10 and the pluses and minuses of doing so - Thanks :-)
