Sharron Report 2 Jun 2015 11:26

My cat, who was himself a stray that came round to eat the food the other cats left, is old and pretty frail now. He likes to sleep on my arm as much as he can and wants to be fed often, more, I think, for reassurance than for nourishment.

I give him a little every time he asks but there is still food left and we began to put it out for a little black stray whose ears were far to large for her who came round.

Over time she grew into her ears and three other strays began to appear on the windowsill as well. Buying extra meat so as not to see them go away disappointed was a bit expensive so I bought a couple of boxes of cat biscuits.

My old chap likes to eat a few of these and I put them out on the sill for the strays.

THEY WILL NOT EAT THEM and gaze in the window with a look of utter contempt before taking their leave!

Well, they will just have to have a bit off that go without that is on the sill as well!

Cats will only eat what they like however hungry they get. Of course they are ingrates YOU should be grateful they that deign to take over yr house, time, desk, bed etc and moult hair all over your suit.

Felix have stopped selling "Marinades" and I have been unable to find something else he likes for ALL the flavors not just some. To be fair he will eat steak, mussels, prawns, york ham free range chicken (not budget) etc.... At least it keeps the hedgehogs fed.

Junior cat who we rescued as a kitten would eat anything but dies just a year ago aged 4. Bitten by a fox he never really got over it. He has prob. gone to live with Dorris Lessing. Senior cat is still moping and I'd like to get him a friend.

One of ours would eat anything if he thought he might be doing us out of it.

A huge mixing bowl full of a couple of pints of pancake mix, a Christmas chocolate log and a big basket of mushrooms spring to mind.

"In the pink"
Senior cat as a kitten took a liking to king prawns. He discovered a bowl full of prawn shells and ate the lot, mostly shell little meat. Ahh the agony he never did that again lol.

We had a siamese kitten that consumed a quarter of a cucumber while we were out. I only left it on the worktop as I thought he won't touch that! He had to get it out of a polythene bag and shrinkwrap too.

All cat slaves should take this test:
http://www.buzzfeed.com/floperry/how-much-does-your-cat-hate-you#.uuJxERyqG

I ticked off 8 out of 40 and got:
Your cat loves you! Weird! You must be the best cat owner in the world. Is your house just full of lap tops and open tubs of butter? Or do you actually have a dog?

...and I was applying it to all 3 cats at the same time! :-D

A cat will always please himself/herself. And I wouldn't have it any other way!

How To Give A Cat A Pill

If you have ever tried to give a cat a pill you know

how difficult it is. The following instructions are fool proof!

1. Pick up the cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm
as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either
side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while
holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth.
Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from under chair. Cradle cat
in left arm and repeat process.

3. Retrieve cat from bedroom and throw soggy pill away.

4. Take a new pill from foil wrap. Cradle cat in left arm holding
rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill
to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top
of wardrobe. Call spouse in from garden.

6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between the knees. Holding
front and rear paws, ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse
to hold cat's head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler
into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap.
Make a note to buy a new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully
sweep shattered figurines from hearth and set aside for gluing later.

8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with it's head
just visible from beneath spouse's armpit. Put pill in end of drinking
straw, force cat's mouth open with pencil and blow down straw.

9. Check label to make sure that pill is not harmful to humans. Drink
glass of water to take taste away. Apply band-aid to spouse's forearm
and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10.Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Place cat in
cupboard and close door onto neck to leave head showing. Force
mouth open with spoon, flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put door back on hinges. Apply
cold compress to cheek and check records for last tetanus shot.
throw t-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12. Call the fire department to retrieve cat from tree across the road.
Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid
cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.

13. Tie cat's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly
to leg of dining room table. Find heavy duty pruning gloves from garage.
Force cat's mouth open with small trowel. Push pill into mouth followed}
by large piece of fillet steak. Hold head vertically and pour 1/2 pint
of water down throat to wash pill down.

14. Get spouse to drive you to emergency room. Sit quietly
while doctor stitches finger and forearm and removes pill remnants
from right eye. Stop by furniture store on the way home to order
a new table.

15. Arrange for vet to make house call.

Ann - :-D :-D
It's strange how things happen and you don't really notice.
George has a habit, when he's really happy, of nibbling my hand.
I've never really thought about this - but have told the grandchildren, he's doing it because he's happy, in case they think he's biting them because they've done something wrong.

I was struggling to open a box of cat food sachets this evening.
They'd heard me, and all 3 were present.
George was excited, got on a stool, and was actually biting my hand as I was trying to feed him!!!
