Do you make a shopping list?

I was always making a shopping lists but usually forgot to take it with me when I went to the supermarket.

After having the kitchen redone, my kids decided to make me a chalkboard.
I wasn't keen on this idea at all.

In the utility room, they marked off an area of wall and painted it with chalkboard paint, then placed the measured empty frame over it.
Whenever we run out of anything, it immediately gets chalked up on the board together with any meal requests for the coming week

When it comes time to go shopping or do it online, I use my phone to take a photo of the entire board
In the last 18months, I have only once forgotten to take the photo but, as there was someone at home , they sent the pic by text. sent it to me by text.

Their chalkboard idea works! I don't forget things anymore

Sometimes I remember more than I need to. Yet, I forget what I ought to recall.

I've got a chalk board in the kitchen. Only problem is, I keep losing the chalk :-(

My girls attached the frame with velcro fixers so it sits proud on the wall and creates a perfect ledge for the chalk :-D :-D :-D

Yes, I do, and always have done ............ and it is even more important now as OH does the shopping alone.

The downside of him doing it on his own is that if I don't write it down, it doesn't get bought, and if I specify something but he can't find it, it doesn't get bought 'cos he doesn't look for an alternative. He does do a good job otherwise :-D

I've had a wipe-off board and washable pen in the kitchen for about 30 years

Down the left side of the board is a listing of items that we usually have to buy every week ........ eg, milk, cheese, bread, veggies, fruit, etc etc. I just have to decide amounts and whether or not we do need something "this" week

The right side is for writing down items that we have run out of but are not on the left side, or items needed as a 1 time only.

Everyone in the family is expected to add to the right side list if they notice we are out (or almost out) of something or they empty the packet ........ now that is just OH and me :-D

I write the list up early Friday afternoon, and add items that are on special in the grocery store flyer. OH then goes to the store in the late afternoon ............ that's where he is right now!

....... and I have just remembered that I forgot to add "flowers" at the end of the list 'cos that is not written on the board, but a matter of me looking at the flowers we have and deciding we need fresh or more :-(

I don't do shopping lists because I forget to put things on it

I do my Sainsbury shopping in a set pattern around the store so usually get what's needed . Hubby always bought his own toiletries but now he cant get around he asks me to get them ,sometimes I forget things like his denture cleaner tablets cos he asked me days before shopping for them
I do the weeky shop on a Wednesday when hubby is at his dementia day care centre

I often do an online shop and get that to list it as my favourite s by aisle otherwise I would forget something if it was just a long listing

It is annoying when you do forget an item but if it's essential I will go to Tesco on a Sunday after dropping hubby off at church to do a top up shop

What a sensible pressie GlasgowLass, and something that didn't cost the earth.

We have a small white board in the kitchen and like Sylvia write down as we notice something has been used up or we've opened the last packet/jar.
That gets copied onto a pad along with any fruit, veg or dairy products we may need to top-up.

Mind you, we are stil known to add to the list as we are walking around the supermarket, or we pick up items going cheap or which take our fancy!

We use a tablet which syncs with our phones and the smart fridge. We use the phone as a shopping list and delete as we buy.
Because the tablet and two phones all sync, the list is constantly updated

I don't have a mobile phone, so a rely on the old-fashioned method of paper & pen :-D The pad is kept on the kitchen bench, next to the kettle.

I check to see what DH has written on it....... and then check the storage cupboard (which he never does!).

If DH does the shopping I have to be specific on the brands, sizes etc..... he's brought home some very weird things.

His last attempt....... I wanted sesame seeds........ he couldn't find them (where was he looking?)........ he told a shop assistant what I wanted them for........ and came home with a jar of tahini.

And.....he usually comes home with loads of potato chips & sweets!

As OH does the shopping now - I cannot geet him into the system of writing down as items get low. I made up a spread sheet with titles bathroom/kitchen/larder/personal/fridge/freezer/cleaning etc. Every few weeks I run off a sheet and do a check with OH. If something is wanted that had not been bought previously - it is added to the spread sheet.

This is usually a large and heavy order so have it delivered.
