I had to have our old lady put to rest the week before last. She was 18 and a half and her kidneys failed her. I have one cat with Dementia she is now 14 and has completely lost the plot, but she is such a sweetie. She often sits in the middle of the upstairs landing and howls for no reason . Iorientals but they are just annoyingly vocal also adopted my daughters 2 :-| :-D :-D :-D

He has probably been planning to p*ss on me for years. Every time I have put one of the thyroid pills that cost me mega in his mouth.

He is not peeing more than usual, he just forgets what he has to do next and I can identify with that!

Fortunately I haven't peed in the wrong place........................yet!

A vet told me when my old lady got to 18 that her kidneys were closing down which is why she was peeing so much. He then gave me the choice of waiting until they failed completely (a matter of days) or having her put to sleep there & then.
Apparently kidney failure is the main cause of death in elderly cats.

Poor old Desmond . I know when Mirabelle,s illness advanced she started to pee indoors so I put a tray where she had her accidents .

She would pee in the box but then poo too on the landing outside her tray

I bought an indoor loo which a was covered self cleaning box and initially she used it but as her illness progressed she would pee and poo outside it ,so much so I took up the carpet and underlay on the landing where it was and put down newspaper and incontinence chair size pads and on top and then her loo box,

Found too I had to put a litter tray on the upstairs landing cos she would sleep there but seemed to forget to go down the stairs to the next landing for her loo box
I think they lose their bearings ,and yes go a bit senile and let go when they want too sadly it's all part of the getting older for them
We love em so we forgive , but it does get a bit wearing !!!

Lol Sharron poor old thing is marking you as his! But he has forgotten how to mark places.

Poor Desmond, but you have given him a good life haven't you? Probably spiled him rotten. Sorry that he is getting confused though. <3

More poor old cat, Desmond, is running down to the end now. He is fourteen and needs more TLC than ever, spending far too much time asleep on the crook of my arm while I knit and think of all the things I should be doing.

It looks like he might be suffering from a bit of dementia too because, a couple of times now, hr has got down for some meat or a drink of water, after which he has always visited his dirt box, and forgotten what the next move should be.

He has jumped back on my lap and peed all over me, and when he starts there is no stopping him. It has been coming on for a while now and I have had to move him quickly when he has squatted in different places looking vague.

I am not entirely sure his peeing on me is due to dementia.

Have cats been known to have a bucket list?
