A bonus is usually an award for achievement -- over and above a recognised standard.

Perhaps the Honour system follows the same pattern.

Lenny's jokes are very PC these days, not sure what you mean, Bob. It was given to him for his tireless charity work.

It always amazes me that people are "Honoured" for doing their jobs. I don't find Lennie Henry very funny, and he tells jokes that he wouldn't get away with if he were white.

in Wales the head of the Welsh Ambulance Service received an award - unbelievable - the waiting times are horrendous - ambulances queuing outside A & E for hours - when my son was knocked unconscious and kicked in the head a few weeks back it took the ambulance two hours to get to him and he was only about a mile from the hospital!! and then it was a private ambulance

Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders were both offered OBEs in 2001, and decided against taking them.

Stranger still that a trade union boss accepts a knighthood :-S

How strange that Lenny Henry should be knighted and Dawn French reseive no mention after they carried out their charity work together.
