Caught up last night, am out again the next 2 nights so maybe see Jerry Hall at the weekend.

Thought Derek Jacobi's was brilliant but I was left deflated. What happened to bring about poverty from a good marriage in the 1720s to 1841? Hope he was given that answer and there just wasn't time to put it into the programme.

Watched BBC 2 at 9pm after the catch up, The Ascent of Woman, it's brilliant, so well done and the format is so good. Look forward to seeing the other episodes in the series. Full of history and it's history that's not usually shown. :-)

Interesting to find out where her family originated,
but she so gets on my nerves.

Next week....Gareth Malone.

Ooh - embarrassing! Slaves and the first 'pioneers' to grab the little bit of land left to the Native Americans. Soo glad my ancestors were just p*ssed up English ag labs who moved as far as the railway went! :-D

I quite enjoyed the Jerry Hall programme. At least we got a bit from both parents' background. A shame the researchers did not get further back to country of origin of her mother's side though.

Looking forward to the next one now.

Gareth Malone tonight folks :-)

Hope it is a good one.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 10 Sep 2015 14:06

Don't know anything about him - so its an open book as far as i am concerned

Someone told me he is in charge of the Military Wives choir - saw them once on the British legion Festival of remembrance - so must have seen him then - I just seem to remember one of the singers had a nice evening dress & had a lot of tattoos - which is something you don't tend to see on a BFR show -

My OH liked the Jerry Hall show but not her voice - it drove him mad he said
But it was interesting & she was so shocked about the slaves & native Americans - she can certainly ride a horse & it was a very tall one too

Looking forward to the new series of WDYTYA USA that started this week but recorded it

Well that was a very entertaining programme tonight,
at least I wasn't bored.
Lovely to see the reaction from his grandfather to the
film.

Next week ...Anne Reid.

So did I. I haven't seen much of Gareth Malone, though I knew the name and of the choir programmes, I thought he seemed a nice young man :-) And I am always interested in anything to do with the stage :-D

'Emma' Report 10 Sep 2015 22:07

As I said on page 5 I also enjoyed it Ann.

Next week Anne Reid's looks very interesting.

I like Gareth Malone so was looking forward to tonight's episode and I really enjoyed it. The highlight for me was watching his 94 year old grandfather watching his grandfather on the screen for the very first time. Very moving :-)
