I had the same problem in February when my renewal date arrived and despite numerous messages between me and gr, it took three weeks to do the renewal. According to them they took 2014's payment from my card that expired in 2013. What a c...up!

Andysmum, I am coming to the definite conclusion there will surely be no next time in 2016 for me.
This site becomes more of a disaster as time passes.
So sad when I - and many members here - know how very much 'alive' were the boards on GR a few years ago.
Things actually worked properly, too!
A very great shame ... innit!

I had this problem with GR last year, except that I wanted to enter my new card details before the due date. No way to do it. Support sent an email with instructions - briefly I had to do it through Subscribe. They then took the money straight away and I got a lot of gumf about welcoming me to GR.

I tried suggesting that the old system (card details in My Account) should be reinstated, but was told the new way was OK.

DetEcTive is right. Next time I shall wait until the last minute! :-| :-|

Its not only GR....I have spent a lot of time this afternoon trying to update my credit card details with PayPal .Im doing all it asks me and getting the request to add card details ..and screen just goes blank.
Technology is good,but need patience most of the time .Grrr :-S

I had a email in my spam folder this morning,from a B/B supplier saying that they couldn't access my card details to take this months D/D and I would be liable to an excess charge( and all that)
would I fill in the attachment.............no way Jose'

checked online my bank statement...........yes it HAD gone through......

contacted the supplier, yep it really WAS a spam email

Yes, everything regarding my card is UNCHANGED.
This card and its details made successful renewals prior to 2015.
Go figure, as they say. (Whoever 'they' are!)

People have said they have to wait until their membership has expired. Only then can they alter card details.

If nothing on yours has changed, including the 'valid to' date, then the system is up the spout yet again!

I had the same even though it was the same credit card .i had to go in and reinput the card details

... expires today - as well I know - and I had earlier notifiction this month from GR it will be renewed automatically per my preference.
My renewal has been this way for several years, like many of us.
I have been with GR for 12 years.

Incredibly, I received e-mail an hour or so ago from GR that my membership cannot be renewed because ...
"The reason we can't continue your membership automatically as you requested is probably because your card has changed or expired."

Well, here's MY very good news, GR!
My card issuer, my card number, the expiry date, and everything about my card is still perfectly valid!
Nothing whatever has changed with it at all!

After a lot of messing about - it wasn't so easy to find where to make changes - I managed to change my card details ... or rather I had to enter ALL details again.
Shazam! I have just successfully renewed per GR's confirmation e-mail.
Finding how to change card details was not so easy - need to go into subscribe.
I would have thought such changes as this was under my account!

If your GR renewal is imminent, you might care to go to your account and check your credit card details; perhaps check anyway.
I KNOW my still valid card has not been revised for a couple of years or so by me.
Unless this is (more) bungling by GR - ya think!! - I have no idea why my details for my card have been 'changed or expired'.
Now perhaps I can enjoy the rest of my day.
